Job Description
We are seeking an experienced researcher to lead software projects at the newly established Qualcomm Bay Area Research and Development Center (BARD).
The qualified candidate will lead exciting research projects in the following areas (Mobile Browser Technologies, Distributed / Cloud Computing, Parallel Computing) from concept generation to prototype implementation.

Qualcomm's new Bay Area Research and Development Center (BARD)
Qualcomm, Inc. is setting up a new research and development center in the San Francisco Bay Area. Called BARD (for Bay Area R & D), the new center will take Qualcomm's traditional strength in digital wireless technologies in new directions such as mobile internet protocols, mobile commerce, security technologies, client software platforms, distributed applications, search and discovery, virtual machines, sensor technologies, and location based services. By locating the group in Santa Clara, the center will have access to top-tier technical talent, world-class research universities, and Silicon Valley's thriving startup community. Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate should have strong experience with any of the following technologies for our future projects:
Mobile Browser Technologies - in original design of system software and services for mobile phones. Web technologies including client browser technologies, including rendering, javascript interpretation, security and optimization for a variety of hardware platforms. A very strong foundation in existing browser technologies a strong plus.
Distributed / Cloud Computing - strong knowledge of existing browser technologies, and server cloud computing infrastructure.
Parallel Computing - Parallel Computing tools, programming languages and hardware. Parallel computing research for mobile computing platforms.
Experience in operating systems, programming language design and implementations, internet protocol design and implementation, mobile service definition and implementation is required. Expertise in agile programming methodologies is required.
The ideal candidate should have a PhD in computer science with experience in industry research. Strong publications background in related areas of interest.
We expect the candidate to have lead a software research team. Experience working with cross functional teams with various technical and business skills is required.
